Got to love the British and their hallmarks. This is a sterling ladle with a whale baleen handle. It is marked sterling, London, xxxx, and has the mark of Sarah Blake. Sarah inherited the silver company in xxxx and had this mark until the merge in xxxx with her son. At the bottom of the bowl is what I believe to be an etched phoenix bird . Same type and form used by the Free masons of England. Measures about 7.5 inches. I will mail for We are pleased to offer one of the rarest forms of early Royal Doulton Toby pitchers. This was one of their first models, and it was made between xxxx and xxxx. This was purchased for a private collection at a David Rago auction in the late xxxxs. It has a very deep mold strike that shows every detail to its finest point. It also has a tapestry technique that is uncommonly seen on Nippon and Royal Bayreuth China, and even more rarely seen on Lambeth Doulton pieces. The tapestry was deeply impressed on the clay and it left a very detailed, textured surface behind.If you look closely, you can see the potter's thumbprint on the ribbon at the bottom of the handle. It is marked "Doulton; Lambeth; England", which was used for certain items made between xxxx-xxxx. It has the mold number "xxxx", which indicates manufacture dates between xxxx-xxxx. It also has the designers mark that looks like an 'a' next to an 'O', which was used by Adelaide Aaron. Please refer to the photos. This beauty measures 10 ½" tall and is about 7" wide at the middle (not including the handle). The bottom is 4" across. The condition is fabulous! It has no cracks, chips, or repairs. They are a couple of the tiniest of minor flea bites on the bottom of the bottom rim.
